United Nations organisation

United Nations organisation (uno)is an intergovernmental organisation or world level organisation to promote international cooperation. UNO was established on 24 October 1945 after world war 2nd, when the leaders of the world, including American President Roosevelt and British prime minister Churchill, decided to create a world level organisation that would help to ensure peace. 
Charter of uno was signed on 26 June 1945. At it's founding uno had 51 member states now it has 193. Its headquarters are in Manhattan (new York).Its main offices are in Geneva (Switzerland), Nairobi and Vienna (Austria).six official languages  are spoken and used in documents and at the United Nations organisation are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spainish.
UNO has six principal organs.
1) General Assembly
2) Security Council
3) Economic and Social Council
4)the Secretariat
5) International court of justice (ICJ)
6)UN Trusteeship (inactive since 1994.
General assembly:is the main place for 
discussions and policy making in the United Nations. All the members of the UN are the members of general assembly. It has one president and 21 vice presidents. Its first committee was on Disarmament and international security
 Its first general secretary(UN's most prominent officer)  was  Trygve lie from Norway from 2 February 1946 to 10 November 1952. The first meeting of general assembly with 51 nations and the security council  tookplace in London on 6th January 1946.
The security council: this organ of UN has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. It is made up of 15 members. In these 15 members 5 are permanent and 10 are non permanent members.the permanent 5 members are also called as veto members  and these are china, France, Russia, United Kingdom and United States of America (USA).
 The international court of justice:it is located in the Hague, Netherlands. Its the primary judicial organ of the UN, established in 1945 by the UN charter. This organ of UN began work in 1946. ICJ is the successor of the permanent court of international justice. 
UNO won the Nobel peace prize in 2001.

International labour organization:(ILO) it was established in 1919. Its headquarters are located in Geneva.the objective of ILO is to improve condation and living standard of workers.
United Nations international children's emergency fund (UNICEF)  Established in 1946.its headquarters are in Ney York. Its objective is to promote children's welfare all around the world.

International monetary fund (IMF): its headquarters are in Washington DC. Its objective is to promote international monetary cooperation. It was established in 1945.
Food and agriculture organization (FAO): established in 1945, headquarters in Rome' and its objective is to promote living conditions of rural population.

International bank for Reconstruction and development (IBRD) it's objective is to provide funds from different sources. It was established in 1944. It has its headquarters at Washington DC.
World Trade organization (WTO): established in 1995.its objective is to set rules for World Trade to reduce tariffs.it headquarters are located at Geneva.
United Nations environmental programme (UNEP)  established in 1972,had headquarters in Nairobi. Its objective is to promote international cooperation in human environment.
UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (UNDP): its objective is to help developing countries to increase the wealth producing capabilities of their natural and human resource. Its headquarter is in New York and it was established in 1965
United Nations educational scientific and cultural organisations (UNESCO) established in 1945.its headquarter is in PARIS . Its objective is to promote collaboration among nations through education, science and culture.
International telecommunication union (itu)
Working since 1865 . Has its headquarter in Geneva. Its objective is to set international regulations for radio, telegraph, telephone and space radio communication.
World health organization (WHO) its objective is to attain highest possible level of health by all people. Its headquarter is in Geneva.it was established in 1948.
Un women.established in 2010. Its headquarter is in New York City,USA. its objective is to work for the empowerment of women and girls.
